Mega Clown Pleco L340 5-6CM . The L340 Mega Clown Pleco, also referred to as the Imperial Tiger Pleco, belongs to the Loricariidae family of South American suckermouth catfishes. Its vibrant yellow and black maze-like patterns, along with its friendly demeanor, make it a standout choice for planted or nano aquariums. This species is generally peaceful and quite resilient, making it a fantastic, low-maintenance option for various aquarium setups. Unlike the more commonly seen Common Pleco and Trinidad Pleco, which can grow to an impressive 18 to 20 inches, the Mega Clown Pleco only reaches about 3.1 inches in length. This smaller size allows it to thrive in well-kept aquariums as small as 30 gallons without creating a mess. While male Mega Clown Plecos can be a bit territorial towards other males, providing enough space and hiding spots usually helps ease any conflicts. They tend to ignore other tankmates, although small shrimp fry might be at risk. Primarily nocturnal, the Mega Clown Pleco may also be active during the day once it feels comfortable in an environment rich with driftwood, rocks, and hiding spots. Unlike some other plecos, it doesn’t heavily consume wood but can benefit from having some available. This fish is generally plant-friendly and not a significant algae eater. A suitable diet includes meaty foods like Bloodworms, Tubifex, and Daphnia, along with fresh vegetables such as shelled peas, spinach, zucchini, and cucumber. While high-quality dry foods with both animal and plant ingredients, like algae wafers, can be offered, they shouldn’t form the main part of its diet.
