Its accurate obstacle location capabilities help prevent hazardous, expensive cable strikes during excavation on construction, utilities and railway projects.In power mode, the C.Scope DXL4-DBG picks up on the signal emitted by live electric current in buried cables. Radio mode, meanwhile, can detect both metal pipes and cables by locating the radio-type signals that can emanate from underground metal surfaces.The generator mode on the C.Scope DXL4-DBG allows it to work with Signal Generators, thus improving detection of longer, deeper obstacles via 1W energisation and small, thin or unearthed cables via 131kHz frequency signals. The AllScan mode can pick up on frequencies outside the ranges of the other three modes for comprehensive inspections.In addition to accurate location through signal strength, the C.Scope DXL4-DBG also measures obstacle depth between 0.01m and 9.99m with an accuracy of ±5%. The AlarmZone™ function warns the user if cables are shallowly buried whilst the swing indicator sounds if the indicator is being swung around too much. Peak Hold holds the strongest signal measurement in order to help find the exact location of buried obstacles.The C.Scope DXL4-DBG has impressive datalogging functions with a large internal memory. The LCD screen displays depth and signal strength readings extremely clearly and data transfer is available via either Bluetooth to the C.Scope Relay Android App and via USB to a PC with C.Scope PC Toolkit software. The in-built GPS function allows the instrument to add location stamps to every saved file. The locator can even connect via Bluetooth to third-party GPS Survey equipment which allows ‘one-pass’ underground utility surveys.The sturdy construction of the C.Scope DXL4-DBG allows it to withstand a 1m drop and it is IP65 weatherproof rated.
