Nichols’ Mouthbrooder 4-5CMNichols’ Mouthbrooder 4-5CM Nichols’ Mouthbrooder is typically found in calm, densely vegetated creeks, drains, lakes, and ponds within the upper and middle regions of the Congo River basin. The aquarium should be spacious and feature a soft sand or fine gravel substrate. It’s important to provide shelter using caves, driftwood, flowerpots placed on their sides, and areas with dense planting. Filtration must be effective, but the water movement should be relatively gentle. For optimal care, Nichols’ Mouthbrooder cichlids are best kept as a single male accompanied by a harem of several females. They can exhibit some territorial behavior towards other bottom-dwelling species (like catfish, loaches, and other dwarf cichlids), so it’s advisable to avoid these. Ideal tankmates would include fast-moving, medium-sized fish that inhabit the mid to upper levels, such as hatchetfish, rainbowfish, or deep-bodied tetras – but be sure to observe them closely. Pictures are of the fish in stock, if require any more please get in touch all sizes are approx
